In response to the increased number of available generic medications, pharmacies in our area, such as
Kroger,
Wal-Mart and
Target, are offering over 300 generic medications for as low as $4 a month or $10 for a 3-month supply.
Wal-Mart and
Kroger also have lowered the prices on some women’s health medications to $9 for a month supply ($24 for 3 month supply).
Publix Pharmacy is offering 14-day supplies of 8 different antibiotics for free when patients bring in a valid prescription. Each of these pharmacies has resources available on their website where you can go to find a list of discounted medications and obtain more information about the various discount programs.
It is important that all prescriptions, even discounted and free medications, be run through your insurance card in order to ensure proper monitoring of your medications. If a pharmacist is unaware of how to submit the prescription at the discounted amount under your benefit, please have them call Health Plan Select Member Services- (706) 549-0549 ext 6360.
Low-cost generic drugs are as safe and effective as their brand name equivalents.
